falcon deer
The deer falcon is a bird of prey of open pastures and prefers to be with some trees or slopes. It often hunts by horizontal pursuit, rather than by bending over a peregrine falcon from a height. It feeds mainly on rodents and birds. In Europe, ground squirrels and zebras are the most common prey. This species usually does not build a nest of its own, but lays 3 to 6 eggs in a nest of old sticks in a tree that was used by other birds such as storks, crows or other types of hawks. Often they also build nests on cliffs. Hawksbill nests support a rich population of herbivores.
